FAQs

We know that wading through information online can be daunting. We’ve answered come common questions to help you navigate this process with us.

Do I have to come to your office?

Technology has changed the dynamics in which we can operate, so whether virtually, at your kitchen table, or a mutually agreed upon location, we are able to conduct our meetings pretty much anywhere.  Fact is, life is busy, and the last thing you need is to fight traffic to come to meet at a location, then go home, put kids to bed or take out the dogs….We work for you and will try to make things as convenient for you as possible.

How do you get paid?

We are a fee & commission based company.

Therefore we can be compensated in some combination of the following:

– Financial planning which is done at a flat rate, and is an annual fee.  This is done because inevitably stuff happens, and studies have shown that consistent financial planning results in….

– Commissions.  The dirty word in the financial industry.  In some ways it is understandable, however, here is why we do not view it in that light:

1) If you buy a stock and hold it long term it is cheaper to pay a commission on purchase, reinvest your dividends fee free, and pay again on redemption, then to pay an asset management fee for no trading.

2)If you purchase an insurance policy from us or the carrier directly, you will pay the commission, either to the person who implements it for you, or the insurance company keeps it as retained earnings.  Either way you pay.

– Fees.  If you choose to utilize our investment management services there is a charge for this service, which covers costs of research, trading, and administration.  This is a flat per household element, declining as a percentage as account size increases.  This is our preferred method to work together because it establishes a fiduciary relationship and provides investment selection flexibility.

Do you work with people outside of North Carolina?

Yes, basically if you have an internet connection, we are able to work with you!

Do I have to pay for the first meeting?

No, we absorb the cost of the initial phone call meeting.  Before scheduling,  please visit Our Process to ensure we are a good match for each other.
